Antitrust and Competition
Antitrust and competition enforcement both domestically and abroad has expanded exponentially in recent years. Competition authorities worldwide are aggressively seeking larger and larger penalties, and the significance of antitrust and competition laws on corporate activities cannot be underestimated. MMN routinely handles investigations and merger reviews by the Japan Fair Trade Commission. But we are also one of only a few Japanese law firms that handles competition law cases of Japanese companies overseas (such as investigations by foreign authorities, merger reviews and various litigation including class actions) often by collaborating and cooperating with local law firms. The firm also counsels on and handles matters relating to distribution policies, business collaborations and other business transactions under antitrust-related laws such as the Subcontract Act and the Act against Unjustifiable Premiums and Misleading Representations.
